Steelite International tableware has been featured on season six of the Netflix cooking show, Chef’s Table. Episode three of the emmy-nominated series focuses on Chef Asma Khan of the award-winning Darjeeling Express restaurant in Soho, London.
A true homage to the bustling streets of Calcutta, Darjeeling Express is renowned for being one of the best Indian restaurants in London and as Khan shares personal stories about her passions and inspirations with the audience, it’s no surprise as to why. With each dish served, there is an emotional connection as the cuisine takes guests on a sensual journey with every bite. The restaurant itself has a homely, cosy feel to it and as guests dine, Asma is on hand to share interesting stories about the origins and inspirations behind each dish served. With every dish served, whether it is a starter, main or side, it is clear that Asma is passionate about creating hearty, feel good food that is bursting with exciting flavours and brimming with history. As Asma herself states during the episode, “That feeling when you can light up someone's soul with something you have prepared, that is a privilege and an honour”. Warm, welcoming and completely down to earth, a visit to Darjeeling Express will not only leave you feeling satisfied thanks to the generous servings, but it will also leave you feeling like part of the family.
Throughout the episode of Chef’s Table, Steelite International’s Brown Dapple and Craft tableware collections make regular appearances alongside a completely new and bespoke collection. The new tableware collection was designed and handmade by the London based Potter Maham Anjum, who collaborated with Steelite International to curate a series of bespoke items exclusive to Darjeeling Express. With warm earthy tones and lustrous effects, the carefully selected tableware collections complement the restaurants home-cooked, soulful food perfectly.
